Rocky Point is the perfect Mexico beach vacation area as it’s in a free zone; so no visas or passports are required for American tourists. You must be able to present your driver's license.

Tourism is “the” industry in Puerto Penasco and you'll always find Californians and Arizonans enjoying the great hotel and food bargains there. There are many choices for accommodations ranging from budget to luxury with great values. Basic conversational Spanish is helpful but because of the large tourist industry, Puerto Penasco has a large English-speaking community so you can make your way around on little or no Spanish at all.

There is always fresh seafood at the local restaurants and visit the fish markets in Old Port and take home some fresh shrimp after your Rocky Point vacation. Try the local cuisine too, it great authentic Mexican food.

Go to Rocky Point for the great beaches and fun activities and stay for the awesome seafood and shrimp. The beaches in Rocky Point are very popular with Arizonans as it's the closest beach to Arizona (only a 4 hour drive from metro Phoenix). Enjoy miles of great beaches, great water and great weather in Rocky Point. During low tide the tide pools are exposed for you and your family to enjoy. Check out the coral and colorful sea plants. You can also see a variety of fish, crabs, shrimp and octopus. Be careful and enjoy your day at Playa Hermosa Beach. There are also rocky shoreline areas around the Old Port and Whale Hill. The weather in Rocky Point allows for great swimming from May through October and you can enjoy other water sports such as snorkeling, jet-skiing, sailing and more.

There are a number of activities in Puerto Penasco that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Charters and parasailing
Sunset and dinner cruises with an incredible view of Rocky Point and the surrounding shoreline dotted with hotels and condos are easy to find. Contact Lobo del Mar, ask for Captain Bart at 383-2802. Not only will you get an incredible sunset cruise accompanied by a wonderful belly dancer, you can also inquire about Bird Island charters, parasailing, fishing, diving, private tours and more.

Cet-Mar Aquariums
Aquarium exhibition Monday through Friday 10 am to 6 pm. Located off of Fremont on the road to Las Canchos.

Sea kayaking
Are you adventurous enough to paddle your way around the Sea of Cortez? Kayaks are available for rent at Old Port Kaya Rentals across from La Casa del Puerto. Contact Aurdy or Jeff at 383-6209.

Off road adventures
Into off road racing or just up for an adventure? Bring your motorcycle, sand buggy Polaris, Rhino or ATV and explore the desert roads around town. If you need to rent, many locations on Calle 13 will help you out. Just over the railroad tracks are a number of places to rent ATV's. Prices start at twenty dollars per hour. Bring your oen helmet.

Scuba diving
See exotic fish as you explore the Sea of Cortez. Sun 'n Fun Dive Shop rents quality snorkeling and scuba gear. located on Benito Juarez blvd. as you enter the Old Port. Ask for Patti at 383-5450.

Sport fishing
Catch of the day with Lobo del Mar fishing charters. Book your fishing charter today by one of two ways. If you go early enough to the marina in the morning you will find vendors to sign a group up for sport fishing charter boats or, contact Captain Bart at 383-2802. Most charters supply permits tackle and all of the required gear.

Shopping
Enjoy the many shops in Rocky Point. You can find the typical tourist town shops and you’'ll find many items to take home to remember your trip. Remember to bargain with the vendors to get the best deal.
