SOUTHWEST AMBULANCE CONDUCTS CPR TRAINING TO PREPARE ROCKY POINT, MEXICO LOCALS FOR SPRING BREAK CROWDS (Rocky Point, Mexico March 1, 2003)During Spring Break, many Arizona residents and college students travel to the Mexican resort city of Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco). To increase safeguards for Arizona travelers, Southwest Ambulance today taught various Rocky Point organizations CPR and refreshed those who have learned in the past. “We’re teaching Rocky Point locals CPR with the hope of saving lives,” said Jeff Seargent, V.P. of Pima County Operations for Southwest Ambulance. “With many Arizonans going to Rocky Point for Spring Break, we thought the week before crowds arrive for Spring Break would be the perfect time to teach hotel and resort staff CPR and provide refresher courses to EMS workers.” The training took place in conjunction with the City’s Tucson-Mexico Trade Office, and Clinica de Emergencias San Jose. One hundred people registered to attend the sessions, including fire fighters, Cruz Roja (Red Cross), employees of local resorts and hotels, and private sector EMS. The training took place March 1 and 2, the weekend prior to the start of Spring Break at Kiosko Del Arte, on Fremont Boulevard near Benito Juarez Boulevard in Rocky Point, Mexico. Southwest Ambulance staff from Tucson coordinated and led the trainings.

Press Release: Rocky Point Mexico debuts on the small screen as local production company brings Destination Rocky Point to TV. (April 2005)

Rocky Point Mexico debuts on the small screen as local production company brings Destination Rocky Point to TV.

Phoenix, April, 2005. Rocky Point Mexico swings into action this month on televisions throughout the state of Arizona in Equator Creative Media's show, Destination Rocky Point Mexico. The half-hour documentary covers Rocky Poin's rapid development through the years tracing the city from its beginnings as a small fishing village to the popular tourist hot spot it is today. The film highlights Rocky Point's growing economy and the development of the many condo developments along the Sonoran coast. It provides viewers detailed insight into each of the condo developments along with hints on what's on the horizon for this rapidly developing port town. Viewers are ta ken on an exciting trip to Rocky Point, taking time out to parasail, ride ATVs, board a pirate ship at sunset and much more. Recent safety concerns are dispelled as well, as Rocky Point is highlighted as a fun, safe family destination just 3 ½ hours drive from Phoenix.

Destination Rocky Point Mexico includes interviews with local developers, shop owners, rental agents and tourists in Rocky Point providing viewers a well rounded feel for what Rocky Point has to offer. The show also provides detailed travel planning advice and contact information for resorts and condominium developments in Rocky Point.

“Rocky Point is the closest beach town to Arizona and there is surprisingly little information available on it” says Jeremy Simmons, co-founder of Equator Creative Media, the company that produces Destination Rocky Point Mexico. “Much of the information you can find in the U.S. is outdated or does not provide a complete look at Rocky Point as it is today. With Destination Rocky Point Mexico, potential Rocky Point tourists can see and feel Rocky Point with the sights and sounds of video while gathering information to plan a trip south of the border.”

The show is geared at potential tourists to Rocky Point as well as return customers. “If you haven't been for a while, its definitely worth checking out the show.” Simmons adds. “Rocky Point has experienced unparalleled growth in the past year.”

Destination Rocky Point Mexico is also available in DVD format on Rocky Point: The DVD. In addition to the half-hour documentary, the DVD also contains dozens more videos, hundreds of beautiful, large format photos and detailed travel planning information on Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco) and its resorts, communities, restaurants, shops and more. This unique DVD format provides users with the best of both worlds: the comprehensive travel information found in a traditional printed guidebook and the videos, interactivity and graphic animation popular in digital media.

Rocky Point: The DVD is one in a series produced by Equator Creative Media, a small Phoenix-based company. Others in the series include: Coronado/San Diego Destination Guide CD-ROM and Arizona Destination Guide CD-ROM. The interactive guides are available at Borders Bookstores around Arizona.
